Running Injuries

Running is one of the more popular sports around the world. Almost all running injuries are overuse injuries to the lower extremity. These syndromes often occur from training errors.

Common overuse injuries in runners include patella tendonitis, iliotibial band tendonitis, achilles tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis. Shin splints and stress fractures of the hip, leg, ankle, and foot may occur. Pain in the lower back is common, usually from low back strains but such pains may be the result of disc pathology or stress fractures.
