Dr. Steve Schutzer is a Founding Member and Medical Director of the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, President of the Connecticut Joint Replacement Surgeons, LLC and Physician Executive for the Orthopedic Service Line at Trinity Health Of New England.  Dr. Schutzer is a highly sought-after national speaker on value-based healthcare.

Dr. Schutzer graduated with Honors from Union College and the University of Virginia School of Medicine and was a Lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the United States Navy.  He was a Fellow in Adult Hip and Reconstructive Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital and an Instructor at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Schutzer is a member of Orthopedic Associates of Hartford and is currently on the staff of Saint Francis Hospital and the University of Connecticut, John Dempsey Hospital.  He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Schutzer is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Orthopedic Research Society. He is an elite reviewer and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Arthroplasty.  Dr. Schutzer also serves on the Board of Directors of the Center for Neuro-functional Restoration, the Connecticut Joint Replacement Surgeons, LLC and dancEnlight, a modern dance company of which he serves as Board President. He is on the advisory council of the Nutmeg Big Brothers/Big Sisters. In addition to his professional and community activities, Dr. Schutzer has numerous outside interests. He holds a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. Dr. Schutzer is an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, enjoys riding motorcycles, working with his tractor, water skiing, playing guitar and practicing Chinese calligraphy.
