Dr. Scott Cooper has more than 30 years of experience in the field of rehabilitation medicine. He was one of the original founders of Pioneer Spine & Sports Physicians, P.C.
Dr. Cooper has served as Pioneer’s Managing Partner, CEO, and Director of Medical Education for over 25 years, overseeing its growth into one of the largest practices of its kind in the United States. He also has served as Medical Director of the Bronson Department of Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation at Noble Hospital, Chief of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Mercy Medical Center, and Medical Director of the Surgery Center of New England ASC.
Dr. Cooper is deeply involved in the local medical community, serving on numerous boards and committees. He enjoys teaching and is on the faculty at the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Cooper’s practice focuses on outpatient, non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, primarily those affecting the spine. He has a holistic approach, utilizing activity modification, exercise, physical therapy, medication and minimally invasive spinal procedures to assist his patients.
Dr. Cooper graduated with honors from Cornell University before earning his M.D. degree from SUNY at Stony Brook in New York. He completed an internship at Baystate Medical Center and a residency at the Rusk Institute of New York University Medical Center. Dr. Cooper served as Chief Resident at Bellevue Hospital, Rusk and the Manhattan VA Hospital. He is Board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Physiatry).
Dr. Cooper lives in Northampton, Massachusetts with his wife, two sons, and a Golden Retriever.
