    Fractures of the clavicle or collarbone are quite common. Most of these fractures involve the middle of the collarbone but either the end of the ribcage (proximal) or the shoulder blade (distal) can be injured.

    Clavicle fractures occur in any age group and vary in severity from minimally cracked to severely cracked (comminuted) and from well lined up to widely out of place (displaced).
